Cantilan Bank Joins the Country’s Largest Banking Network, Connecting More Filipinos in Mindanao than ever before

As the first bank in the Philippines to use cloud-based core banking technology, Cantilan Bank has
positioned itself at the frontlinesof financial inclusion through digital transformation. Recently, the
bank achieved another milestone by becoming the newest member of BancNet, the country’s
single ATM switch operator, representing the largest inter-bank network in the Philippines.

BancNet CEO Mr. Aristeo Zafra, Jr. said, “Our Cantilan on-boarding project succeeded in spite of
the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Meanwhile, Emmie Reyes, Vice President of BancNet, said, “We’re proud to welcome Cantilan
Bank as our newest member and as the pioneer in establishing a cloud-based connection to
Bancnet.”

Cantilan Bank now offers BancNet ATM and POS services (cash withdrawal, fund transfer, bills
payment, and prepaid load top-ups) across its network of 46 branches and branch lites, serving
over 100 communities across 12 provinces in Mindanao and the Visayas. It is also the first bank in
the country to deploy Diebold Nixdorf’s latest DN series ATMs in the Philippines, expanding its
digital self-service footprint.

“From four decades of community banking experience, we have come to understand the needs of
our communities better which motivated us to innovate solutions so we can deliver on our mission
to provide greater financial access to the unbanked and underserved in Mindanao,” said Cantilan
Bank Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Tanya Hotchkiss. Forty-three
percent (43%) of the country’s unbanked towns are located in Mindanao.

Innovation is the bank’s strategic imperative and it considers digital technology and partnerships as
the key drivers for financial inclusion especially in the post-Covid-19 era. Cantilan Bank’s digital
transformation is supported by the Asian Development Bank through a grant.
