CANTILAN BANK WINS 2015 INTERNATIONAL MICROFINANCE BEST PRACTICES AWARD

PictureCantilan Bank wins this year’s Fondazione Giordano Dell’Amore Microfinance Best Practices International Award. Ms. Tanya P. Hotchkiss, Head of Office of Strategic Management receives the award for Cantilan Bank.

October 2015 | Cantilan Bank received the 2015 International Microfinance Best Practices Award from Fondazione Giordano Dell’Amore, an Italy-based foundation that promotes awareness on the key role of microfinance as a means of alleviating poverty in developing countries.This year’s theme, “Improving financial inclusion of smallholder farmers” highlights the various challenges faced by microfinance practitioners when it comes to better productivity and access to markets considering the farmers’ significant role in generating most of the world’s food.

Fondazione Giordano Dell’Amore received a total of 35 applications from 28 countries and selected the top three official finalists namely, Cantilan Bank (Philippines), Advans CI (Cote d’Ivoire), and Palestine for Credit and Development-FATEN (Palestine). CANTILAN BANK IS FINALIST TO THE GIORDANO DELL’AMORE MICROFINANCE BEST PRACTICES INTERNATIONAL AWARD

September 2015 | Cantilan Bank, a rural bank offering microfinance services for the financial inclusion of smallholder farmers, is now gunning for an international award after it was officially chosen by the Fondazione Giordano Dell’Amore as one of the three finalists for the Giordano Dell’Amore Microfinance Best Practices International Award along with Advans CI from Cote d’Ivoire, and Palestine for Credit and Development-FATEN from Palestine.

The Giordano Dell’Amore Microfinance Best Practices International Award, promoted and organized by Fondazione Giordano Dell’Amore which is an Italy-based foundation, aims to increase the awareness about the importance of microfinance as a tool to fight poverty and social exclusion; to encourage the exchange of experiences and sharing of thoughts and in-depth analyses within microfinance community; and to highlight and spread microfinance best practices. BRIG. GEN. CHARLES Y. HOTCHKISS (RET.) IS NEW CBI PRESIDENT

September 2014 | Bank’s former Executive Vice-President, Brig. Gen. Charles Y. Hotchkiss (Ret.) is now the President of CBI after the Board of Directors unanimously voted him during their election on August 6, 2014.Brig. Gen. Charles Y. Hotchkiss (Ret.) is a military man turned banker. He retired as a Wing Commander of the 600th Air Base Wing of the Philippine Air Force in 2005. Two weeks after his retirement, he joined CBI as a member of the Board of Directors and assumed the position of the Executive Vice-President. Continue reading…
